So I thought I should inform you all before the baby comes that I am expecting #6 in December. I have 12 weeks left and feeling fabulous. I didn't tell anyone for a long time because I honestly thought that something was wrong with the pregnancy because I never got sick. Fortunately, the baby looks beautiful and healthy and everything seems to be functioning perfectly. So now I concider the not getting sick simply a tender mercy. I think the Lord knew that I couldn't emotionally or physically handle being sick for 18 weeks like I have been with all the others.
What is the gender you ask? Well that is a very good question! We decided to not find out this time (which is a first for us.) It was the longest hour of my life to sit through that ultrasound and not find out! So to any of you who regularly don't find out, my hat is off to you. You are made of steel! I have been so tempted to go back in and ask our tech to tell me the gender. We are so excited either way. Admittedly, I am somewhat less prepared for a boy than I am a girl but if it happens to be a boy it gives me some great excuses to "need to" shop, although Austin claims that if it is a boy he gets to do all of the shopping so I don't buy anything too prissy. Of course if he does the shopping it will all be done online at the BYU bookstore and it will all come in blue with a cougar or BYU logo somewhere on the outfit. We need to get a new carseat and stroller (our carseat is 8 years old and has been through 5 kids. I dont think they were made to go through that!) So I told Austin that if we have a girl I am totally buying a pink stroller. I think with 6 girls I am entitled to a pink stroller.
So with the coming of this baby we have offically outgrown a minivan! I have always wanted 6 kids but I never emotionally prepared for the possiblity that this would mean I would have to drive a 12 passenger van. It has taken quite a bit of therapy to get through this (J/K). I still am getting used to that size of vehicle but it has actually come in handy a number of times. I have learned that when you have a truck or a 12 passenger van you become an even greater asset to the church. We have done a lot of youth hauling in the last few months and have become greatful that we have it. It is nice to be able to haul not just my kids but all of their friends too. And best of all I don't hear "mom, she's touching me!" Its great.
We had the pleasure of being able to spend a couple of days with Shelly and her family. It was so fun to see them! The transmition in their van went out on their way home from montana so they got to spend a couple of days car shopping here in Omaha. I felt bad that it wasn't under better circumstances for them but we sure had fun having spending time with them and hearing their plans for the future. It brought back a lot of great memories. It made me miss hanging out with all of you. Anyway, If any of you are ever passing through Omaha...
I am very interested to hear what everyones plans are after residency. Many of us are almost done and I would love to hear where everyone is planning on going after. Sorry this is so lengthy! Love you all!

Joni! All I can say is that you truly amaze me! I'm so excited for you guys. So glad that you weren't sick with the pregnancy. I'm seriously blown away by you!
We aren't going anywhere since we won't be done with residency for a long time, but I would also like to hear what everyone's plans are.

i know i've already told you, but i'm so excited for you guys. i bet your girls can hardly stand the wait. i'm also pretty envious, i would love to have another baby. maya is only four months old, but she is so sweet and yummy and makes me smile all day, none of us can get enough of her. i would love to know another one was on its way. but, they are like kittens and they grow up and then the real work begins, so with that i think five is my absolute LIMIT! ya, good luck driving that VAN! wow. that would be a hard adjustment!!! i guess it would have solved my car seat problems we talked about a while ago! well, enjoy feeling great and enjoy pregnancy and the anticipation of a little blue or pink bundle!! oh, and you are *totally* entitled to a pink stroller!!!!

As for us we aren't going anywhere because Brett still has a 2 year commitment as a flight surgeon, and frankly I think he could be a flight surgeon the rest of his career and be so happy. Love, Kami
Joni! Congratulations :) I am so glad you weren't sick, yes tender mercy is right. Don't forget to post some picture when she comes! I guess it could be a boy... It's just hard to imagine a male Healey besides Austin! ;)
We will be done in July and we are most likely signing with the Hospital in Gunnison UT. We actually interviewed in 2 different places, but we feel really good about the practice opportunity and situation there. It's about 90% sure that we will go there.
Adam will be able to do full spectrum family medicine with OB and scopes etc. There are a lot of docs there too so call is light :) We are excited to be moving forward. I can't wait for residency to be over!!!!!!
Awesome Joni! Congratulations. I'm so happy that you've been feeling well. I can't even tell you how much I admire your courage and positivity. Sounds to me like this package might be a blue one... I'm just saying!! ;0)
We are looking at our list of options for the next three years and its pretty awful. More than half the spots are overseas (Guam and Japan) and I'm SO terrified of being so far away. I don't know how to deal with not having any control over this and after the crazy events of the match, I really can't believe any of the "reassurances" I keep getting. Looking back, however, I can see the Lord's hand in it all, so that is what I'm holding on to. We should find out around the holidays.
Joni Holy cow! That is amazing. I just have to ask you one question. How in the world do you get five girls ready for church in the morning? And when they all start school you are going to have to get up at four thirty just to get all their hair done. That is so fun. Congrats on the new one coming. I am so glad you don't feel sick. I don't know how it would be physically possible to be sick and take care of five kids. What are you guys doing after residency? I think Dave might be leaning toward opening his own here in Pocatello. We will see.

jenny, just had to comment that i totally feel for you. we are in a similar position with the NHSC scholarship that jason had. we're now facing "payback" and the NHSC has revamped their stipulations for payback and its really grim now. our options are AWFUL. But, one option is american samoa and jason spent a month there and i spent a week there with him and we are quite sure we will accept their offer. we figure if we have to go somewhere far from home and awful, we may as well make it an international type experience for our kids and family and make it a real adventure. he will do clinic and hospitalist type work in their "medical center" there. we're excited and the kids are already learning samoan words. our little blonde heads will stand out i'm sure, but it should be an adventure.
can't wait to hear where you guys are going. just wanted to empathize, we know how it feels to have really crappy options... ugh.
Jenny-I am sorry that you are going through that! It is kind of scary to think of being that far away from home. On the bright side, one of my counselors is a naval wife and she spent 4 years in Japan and absolutely loved it! She was the relief Society Pres there and talks about Japan all of the time. She has some beautiful things from there. On the other bright side, we just had one of our residents and their 7 kids move to Guam. We were looking seriously at guam for awhile and everything we heard was awesome! Everyone called it a little Hawaii with less tourism and lower prices. They said the military has private white beaches and it is beautiful. Austin's Aunt was stationed there and loved it. Currently Austin is being looked at for a residency staff position, here, in Nevada, and in Illinois. We will find out by Dec. if he is selected, if not we will be putting in our wish list in December. We really don't care where we are sent (with the exception of Alaska or anywhere colder than here!)
Amy- we have a serious assembly line that we go through to get hair done. We have gotten it down to a science. However, we do have to wake up unreasonably early to get all ready to walk to school and go to church on time. It's fun though.
Can I comment on this? great! Joni! Congrats!!! NUMBER 6! Im seeing blue in your future. Jenny! Dont be SCARED! I was basicly a military brat growing up and LOVED it. My parents are in Okinawa Japan right now and they keep extending it. Our good friends are in Japan and LOVE LOVE it. You will be shocked on how much you love over seas. LOTS of ADVENTURE. Good Luck.

I am so excited for you. You sound so happy and thrilled. I can't even imagine driving a 12 passenger van. I would have to get a bumper stick that says, "If I'm backing up, you will get hit."
We still have one more year here in Georgia and then I think we will stay put for at least another year. That is what I want but who knows when the money starts talking.
