Mystery Solved...

Well, sort of. We had our follow up appointment with the Doc today about Zeke's finger. The pathology report came back negative for any kind of cancer. They still aren't exactly sure just what was growing in there. When the Dr. took it out, he told us that it wasn't like a solid tumorous mass, but a lot of tissue growing around the area. I'm not explaining it well and Damon's going to read this and tell me I've got it all wrong, but we're thankful that it's benign and appreciate all the concern on his behalf.

Blog design

Question?  Jenny, how did you create the blog header for this blog and your own?  I see all of these cute blog pages and want to know how people create them.  I have changing mine around cause I was tired of our old one and all I accomplished in the process is deleting my contacts and now have a boring page.

Sorry for the male intrusion

Sorry for the male intrusion, ladies. However, I need some help and know you can be counted on. I currently have a 3rd year student rotating with me who is LDS and wants to do rural family medicine. he is particularly interested in Dave Brizzee and Adam Jensen's programs. I wanted to get your contact info passed along to him. Thanks for the help.

Psalm 127:5

We are going to be adding one more to our happy quiver! I am due Sept 27th and couldn't be more excited (or nervous!) The girls are totally excited as well. We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us. Siena asked us if this time we could have a boy sister. (Since the word brother is totally foreign around here) but we are just as excited to complete our very short girls basketball team as well. It will be fun to see! This time Austin was the first to know and got to announce to me, which was fun. I went in to get a blood test at the base, and since Austin is a doc there he was able to look up the results as soon as they were posted. We agreed that he could tell me later that night so he could do something creative but he called me 20 min later just to tell me that he wasn't going to tell me anything yet. He was so excited that he couldn't wait. It was cute!

A thing of the past

sorry to not use proper grammar, but i have amelia so I'm typing one-handed...So for the clean part of valentines day, the kids and I made a cookie bouquet...it was cute. then i got out my old journals from our dating and young married years and made up a bingo game with questions he had to answer about our courtship. we played with conversation hearts and he did surprisingly well. I asked him things like where was the first place we held hands and what dance did we do at the social lab dance off at ricks college. It was kinda fun to read the journal entries and laugh at stuff.
Well, amelia is over two months anddoing well. Here are some lomg awaited pictures. oh, one more thing....so i am back to my pre-pregnancy weight but i still can't fit into my clothes. what happened...did it just redistribute to my hips and butt because i have to wear sweats everywhere i go.

It's the thought, right?

Thank you all so much for all the Valentines Day ideas! I thought I'd share how my efforts for a thoughtful, inexpensive gift panned out. It's pretty funny, actually!

James was on call Wednesday so the kids and I made heart-shaped cookies and cut out tons of paper hearts. We drove to the hospital, found his car and then I realized that I'd forgotten the key! So, I called him and said that the boys had wanted to say goodnight to him and could he come outside. I was going to ask him if I could see if I'd left my jacket in his trunk and leave the car unlocked. James came and as soon as I opened the car door, Charlie yelled,
"Daddy! We have cookies for you!"
I was upset, but it was funny and at least he didn't know about the decorating we had planned. Well, Dillon was MAD mad mad because he had wanted so badly for it to be a surprise. He whispered (much too loudly),
"Charlie, don't tell Daddy about the decorations!"

James laughed and insisted that we still "surprise" him. After he left, we put the cookies and the hearts in the car and used car paint to write messages on his windshield and windows. THEN just as we were pulling away, it began to rain. HARD. So much for the paint. When James came home, his car had streaks of white paint running down it! Ah!

As for "part 2" of his gift, well I had nearly killed myself working out the day before and could hardly move I was in so much pain! Poor James. Oh well, He was post call anyway, and it's the thought that counts, right?? ;)

Did you guys have better luck? I can see that Dora went for the "quickest way to a man's heart!" YUMMMMM!!!

Chocolate anyone?

Look what I made for Rhett on Valentine's Day! It was so easy and delish! I was so proud of myself that I thought I would share my talent with others. :) Enjoy!

Molten Lava Cake Recipe courtesy Paula Deen (Food Network)

6 (1-ounce) squares bittersweet choc. (used 1 cup bittersweet choc chips)
2 (1-ounce) squares semisweet choc.(used 1/3 cup semisweet choc chips)
10 tablespoons (1 1/4 stick) butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
3 large eggs
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons orange liqueur ( I used orange juice)

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Grease 6 (6-ounce) custard cups. Melt the chocolates and butter in the microwave, or in a double boiler. Add the flour and sugar to chocolate mixture. Stir in the eggs and yolks until smooth. Stir in the vanilla and orange liqueur. Divide the batter evenly among the custard cups. Place in the oven and bake for 14 minutes. The edges should be firm but the center will be runny. Run a knife around the edges to loosen and invert onto dessert plates. Serve immediately.

A little scare but all is well

Okay, it was a big scare. On Wed my little Hope was feeling a little under the weather all day so we spent the whole day snuggling. Later that evening I went to wipe her nose and she did 5 or 6 very jerky compulsive movements and her eyes rolled back in her head and then she went completely limp and I had to catch her. She came back around quickly right as Austin was walking through the door. I told Austin what she just did and that I was worried. He ran upstairs to change his clothes and then Hope went into a full siezure. I screamed for Austin and he ran down the stairs and gave her a blessing immediately. Her arms and legs were convulsively jerking inward and her head was tilted to one side with her eyes completely dialated and in the corner of her eyes. I was of course crying and calling her name and she wasnt responding at all, this lasted for about 7-8 min. Austin called 911 and the paramedics arrived within 5 min. My other girls were of course scared out of their minds with mom crying and big men running in the house grabbing their baby sister and hauling her out of the house. I went in the ambulance and Austin stayed with the kids long enough to calm them down and settle them in at the neighbors house. In the ambulance we think she had another siezure and this time stopped breathing and had to be put on oxygen. By the time we arrived at the hospital she had spiked a fever of 103 and was unresponsive for about an hour before she started to come around again. The poor baby didn't remember the siezures at all for all she knows she woke up and was being poked with needles by complete strangers. We were transfered up to Childrens hospital and they ran a bunch of tests. Luckily all of the tests came back okay and they were able to chalk these siezures up to Febrile Siezures which can happen to kids between the ages of 6 mo to 5 yrs when they spike a fever too quickly. She is doing great now and back to climbing all over everything and getting into everything. It is wierd how much I joy in that now!!! What perspective can do for you! As I was in the hospital looking back at how scared I was and how I was uncertain of the future for my baby, I couldn't help but think about you Rachel and what a strength you are and how scared you must have felt when they took little Hayden away and you had no knowledge if he was going to be okay. I wish with all of my heart that I could have been there with you! I am so glad that little Hayden is okay. We continue to keep your little man in our prayers. Thank you for being such a strength and example to me! I feel so blessed to have such great friends out there that I can share my hopes and dreams and fears with and gain from your strengths! Lot of love to you all!!!
