Savanna Marie Shelton

If you haven't caught my blog, we welcomed Savanna Marie to our family on March 19th. She is just over two weeks and doing well (besides sleeping all day and then waking up as soon as the lights go out....any suggestions for that?). Details on our blog but maternity leave is over...ha ha...and it's back to work. Hope you all had a wonderful Easter and congratulations Rachel M...I didn't know you were expecting.

Any final verdict for girl's weekend?

She is adorable. I hope you are doing well, you didn't say. I don't have any advice on the days and nights mix up. I hope someone else can help. Congratulations!!

Awwww.... so so so cute! I've heard that especially babies with a lot of older siblings get their days and nights mixed up ?? Maybe b/c the noise and busyness soothes them somehow? Sorry not more helpful... I know it must be so hard to enjoy a new baby when you're so sleep deprived.

Girl's weekend is still happening, if we can ever figure out when to do it for sure. I think I need to post a poll or something. Its for sure in August, but between the first and second weekends.

Karie, she is soo cute. our little zach is so into babies right now he would love to see her. Sleep as often as you can, not sure how to help there either. just let other stuff go if it means sleep for you.

Congrats! She is beautiful! I wish I could see her in person. Words and pictures can never accurately portray how cute they are. I am so excited for you! What I do for day night confusion has worked every time for me so hope it helps but I start the baby out in a carseat or bouncer, or something that props them upright so they can releave gas better then if they are laying flat, in a bright lit room (if you have a room with a dimmer switch it works way better.) Over about 2 or 3 weeks you gradually lower the lights in the room until it is dark and if possible, lower the bouncer or swing gradually till flat, or give them plenty of time swaddled on their back in the crib during the day to help them get used to it. While they are sleeping during the day you keep them in a dim room laying flat for some of that time. That makes them wake up more during the day of course because its easier on their eyes and not as comfortable as being held or proped up, but it makes them more tired come night-time and they will sleep longer. Anyway this was advice I was given when Eden was born and it has worked on each of my kids. Some of my kids it worked really fast on, Eden was 2 weeks and slept through the night, and others it took longer to adjust, Gracie I think took a month to adjust. But it did save my sanity and I was able to sleep! Hope that I made sense. If it doesn't and I need to explain better let me know. Anyway, congrats again!

She is SO cute! Something that helped for me is to make sure that she isn't sleeping long stretches during that day. Also, during the day after you feed her, try and get her to stay awake for a little bit by talking to her, giving her tummy time etc. Babies that have days and nights mixed up are SO hard on mom. I hope she gets it figured out quickly.
