What do you want first...Good news or bad?

Okay, we finally got our orders!!!! Good news right?! We are going to Minot Air Force Base. Just incase you've never heard of it....that is because it is in North Dakota. So I got what I wanted...We are not going to Alabama...Yippee! Anyway, don't know any details yet. We just got orders today. I'm a little nervous but we know that is where we were supposed to be. When we were filling out our choices, we were not going to put Minot down but right before we submitted our choices, Trent said, "we have to put Minot because I just feel like that's where we are going and that's where we are supposed to be." So, we changed it and put it as number 17, right before our three Japan choices. Funny, so I guess we had it coming. The wait is over.

Congrats! That is neat that Trent felt like this is the place you needed to be. I am sure you will love it. How long are you there? I am so glad you guys finally know where you are going. Kami

I'm glad you guys at least have a destination now. I hate not knowing. I hope you'll be happy there. I don't think I know anything about North Dakota. You'll have to fill me in! Good luck!

Go out RIGHT NOW and buy up all the clearance winter stuff you can find!!! You're gonna be cold!!! :) I've said it before, you can be happy anywhere. It's all in your attitude and you don't have any problems there :D Good luck with all the moving preparations and stuff. This doesn't interfere with your getaway plans, does it?

Also, it just goes to prove that we REALLY have absolutely NO say in where we go. These "rankings" are just pieces of paper to those people!! (roll eyes) ;)

Karie, I am so glad you guys finally know where you are going. I agree the worst is not knowing. At Caden's preschool graduation Suzanne Taylor was asking how everyone was doing and said she was actually looking for your email. Maybe she is coming up there this summer. Can't wait to see you in July.

I am glad that you can start planning your life past June now. That is too bad that you couldn't get something higher than #17. Crazy.

Karie, Congrats!!! We actually have a ton of people in our ward who have been stationed at Minot and loved it and talk about it all of the time!!! Our bishop raised most of his family there. Everyone says they would totally go back! Until moving here I had never heard of it, but the general opinion here is that it is great. I will try to find someone who might still know people out there who can give you more info about the area. Good Luck!!!!

That is very exciting!! Good Luck-change is always fun! I had a good friend from N.D. and she LOVED it there. Let us know on all your plans-we're excited for you guys!

Karie! We're so excited for you guys! You can't beat the Midwest! I grew up in MN so it's always fun to hear of others moving up into my old stomping grounds. I had ALOT of friends who went up to NDSU for school. They all really loved their experiences there! I do believe ND has more to offer than just Fargo.ha.ha. By the way, one of the LDS ortho residents here has a brother up there. I think he is a pilot for the Air Force. And the other LDS ortho resident here has a sister-in-law who is up there in Minot with her family through the Air Force. It is actually Ann Kalcich's cousin (in North Dakota) who also hails from Farmington, New Mexico. Anyway, perhaps some connections will help you feel excited. I'm sure you'll meet them eventually. Good luck with the packing and planning and moving.
