Update

I just thought I would post a quick update on the whole school situation. After we sent the letter in to the superintendent and asst. superintendent, they contacted us and asked if we would meet with them. Jon and I had such a good meeting with them and just felt so supported and felt so much better about the whole situation and that there was finally someone who was an advocate for children. She assured me that this situation would NEVER happen again and that they were going to be meeting with the pricipal later that day. That afternoon the principal came back to school and announce her resignation!!! We were stunned to say the least. We feel like everything happened just as it should have. Just thought I'd fill you in on the update. Hope all is well with everyone!

Holy Moly! Maybe there was more going on than just that and it's all for the best. I'm glad you feel it was handled well and resolved. Thanks for the update!

You go girl! Way to not just sit back, but to take action. I really admire you. I think parents sometime tend to not do anything when things happen cause they don't know what to do. You are such an example though. Let others know that you don't agree with what has happened, also writing letters can be so powerful. I'm glad it was resolved so quickly.

Wow! That's great. I am glad they didn't drag out the process and make you guys miserable, way to get things done. Yeah, there must have been more amiss with this principal, you guys did lots of people a favor by calling this to the school board's attention. Way to go! How is Ally w/ school now? is she doing ok?

I felt a lot of rage as I sat and read your letter, and feel that there is so much that goes on in schools that parents have no idea. I am so glad that it worked out well. You have to be the voice for your child and fight for them. We actually had a very scary incident with our little Rachel, and know that you HAVE to speak up. I am so glad you spoke up, because you never know who else they were treating that way. Good luck.

That is amazing. Talk about taking care of business! I'm so thankful for your example - hopefully I'll be better prepared if something like this ever happens with my kids. I'm sure so many parents appreciate all the time and effort you put into the letter and meetings. I hope Ali is feeling better about school now. Thanks for the update.

Rachel I am glad to hear it was resolved and you are happy with everything. Your letter was so well written and you did all your homework there was no way they could try to do anything but make you feel good about Ally going to school there. Good to here it worked out. Jill

That is great and I would think that the most important thing about this experience is that you showed Ally that you listened to her and did something about it. I doubt she will forget that and may always feel that she can come to you with anything. How great is that?
